Liner Note:
The current local indiepop scene tends to be boring because there are no bands that truly embrace the essence of having fun. With the rise of tweepop wannabes, lacking references and claiming themselves as indiepop, then being glorified by media supported by sponsors, chasing big stages, and behaving like popstars. Are there any other good pop bands aside from The Silent Love, Clubwater, or The Sensitive? Then Race emerged, releasing two songs through their bandcamp under chaotic pop recs. It's only natural that I'm curious to listen to more of Race's material. After spending a few weeks in his room, Addil managed to record 10 songs with a slightly different sound from the previous two. The material on this album is fresher with more jangly guitar riffs, vocal harmonies, and varied drum fills for an indiepop band. Each song's duration is no more than 1-2 minutes, reminding me of Slumberland bands like Artsick or Kids on A Crime Spree. The album "Half Men, Half Sympathy" is released by 3 labels: Chaotic Pop Recs (Tangerang) in CDR format, subjangle label (South Africa) in CD format, and Faster Records (Solo) in cassette format. As a fan of Race, I'm thrilled to have a physical release of this album and, of course, excited to follow what Race will do next.
